Journey towards the still point
“At the still point of the turning world. Neither flesh nor fleshless; Neither from nor towards; at the still point, there the dance is”
~ T.S. Eliot, The Four Quartets
Benjamin Lee is the Associate Minister at Hopwood Christian Church, which is tucked away in northeast Tennessee, near Johnson City. He received his undergraduate degree in Bible, with a concentration in Philosophy, from Milligan University. He then earned his Masters degree at Emmanuel Christian Seminary. Ben and his amazing wife Angie have been married since 1998 and they have three really awesome sons (if they do say so themselves).
Ben is currently enrolled in the Doctorate of Ministry program at Emmanuel Christian Seminary and is concentrating on spiritual formation. He has a deep interest and passion for the history Christian spirituality as well as how it contributes to spiritual formation in a modern context.
Hopwood Christian Church is situated between Milligan University and Emmanuel Christian Seminary. This gives the congregation a unique opportunity to be a presence among both students and the academic community. The congregation also encourages Ben to cultivate and use his gifts in ways that are tangentially related to the congregation. This gives him the opportunity to teach an online class called Christ and Culture, which is the capstone course for all Milligan University seniors. He serves as a mentor for first-year Emmanuel Seminary students. And, he frequently facilitates and coordinates retreats for individuals and groups. But above all, Ben has a passion for the kingdom of God and has a deep desire to participate in God’s “ministry of reconciliation” (II Corinthians 5:17-21).
